A Whispered Wish was launched in August 2010 to promote philanthropic causes.  This isn’t just another ask for time, donations, or service.  A Whispered Wish is dedicated to enlightening its audience about the many philanthropic ideas that exist in the world.  Our audience can learn about various influential people and causes, and our goal is to help you make informed decisions about philanthropy.

Each of us has the power to make positive change in the world.  Donating a can of soup for a food drive and donating $1,000 to breast cancer research both carry the same effect: helping to change the world.  No act is too big or too small, but the thought behind it is worth millions.  The Golden Rule tells us to “treat others as you would like to be treated,” so think of the rest of the world out there and do your part.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Every simple thing in life usually has a larger meaning.  Each small person can make a big difference, and simple symbols can represent big ideas.

Phi represents the Golden Ratio of 1.618..., which many people believe to represent a proportion which is most aesthetically pleasing.  It is supposedly found in Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Parthenon, the Mona Lisa, music, pentagrams, and sunflowers.   For mathematics nerds, a better explanation of the number can be found on Wikipedia.  For A Whispered Wish, the golden ratio represents a life in balance.  It represents a harmony between yourself and the world around you.

A Whispered Wish represents that latent desire in every person to do what is right.  A wish that is whispered into the ears of someone who can help or someone who needs helping.  A wish for malaria nets, a wish for school books, a wish for clean water, or a wish for bonding relationships.  With this website, we hope to turn those whispered wishes into reality… or at least to wish them a little louder.

There are some other double-meanings and hidden symbols around the site, but we’ll leave those for you to find and interpret.
