Feedie: Sharing Food Around the World via Photos

The September 2013 issue of Vogue contained 902 (!) pages of Jennifer Lawrence, Marissa Meyer, and girl tech information.  Also inside: one buried article under their FLASH: Social Responsibility headline -- Food For Thought -- about a new app called Feedie.  Feedie is an app that allows users to take photos of their food at select restaurants (mostly New York and Los Angeles now, but expanding), and those photos turn into donations for The Lunchbox Fund, which provides daily meals for at-risk school children in South Africa.  Over 12,002,086 meals have been provided to date!

People love to take pictures of their food and share recipes through current social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare (foodies!), so Feedie builds on that current obsession and transforms it to become real food for disadvantaged schoolchildren in South Africa.  Participating restaurants promise to donate 25 cents each time a restaurant patron snaps a photo of their meal on Feedie, which is about the cost of one meal for one child in South Africa.

Download the Feedie app today, and make sure to check it the next time you dine out.  If you happen to be at one of Feedie's many partner restaurants, snap a photo before you dive into your meal.
