Movember 2013

A Whispered Wish last featured Movember in 2011, profiling three handsome men and their not-so-handsome 'staches for a cause.  Today is the last day of Movember 2013, so how about a reminder of why so many cute men are growing out their fur for cancer?

As seen on Movember's website, the men who grow use their faces to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as men's and mental health.  Their four-pronged approach involves awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, research, and staying mentally healthy, living with and beyond mental illness.

For a more personal look at the men behind the mustaches, check out these two stories:

Matt Kroeger: Matt's dirty 'stache was featured on AWW back in November 2011, and since then his mo love has grown enormous.  Matt hosts the annual San Diego Movember Moustache Ride, which is an incredible bike journey around San Diego's hot spots culminating in a big prize raffle at a brewery.  All proceeds go to support The Movember Foundation.  Matt was also featured on Glo in "Our Favorite Men of November" -- see the whole story or just Matt's section.  Matt's team has raised $2,307 to date -- nice work mo gentlemen!  Donate to his mo.

Greg Murphy: Greg is committed to growing a dirty 'stache with his colleagues at the County of San Diego in order to raise $3,000 in just 3 weeks for men's health.  As of today, his team has raised $4,528 -- nice work!  Competition among his friends and colleagues is tough, and Greg is only asking for donations of $10 or less, emphasizing the true impact of what a crowd can do.  Donate to his mo.

Best of luck to all of these mo bros in their final day of Movember!
