Changing Lives Through Jobs

Chrysalis was founded as a food and clothing distribution center to serve people living on the streets of Los Angeles' Skid Row.  It has greatly expanded in the last 25 years, to become a long-term solution and model for other cities on how to eliminate poverty and homelessness.

"Offering a hand up, rather than a hand out, Chrysalis empowers its clients to complete a self-directed job search" - Chrysalis' philosophy.  This organization looks for long-term solutions -- to help people become job-ready so they can work themselves out of poverty and into a better life.  Chrysalis provides transitional jobs, computer skills training, successful work habits, and communication strategies to help place and secure careers for the hungry and homeless who are eager to work.

You may have already heard about Chrysalis through their notable annual charity event, the Butterfly Ball.  June 11, 2011 marked it's 10th year of this fundraiser bringing together Hollywood's elite to raise over $1 million to directly support Chrysalis' employment programs.  Or, if you like competitive poker, you'll recognize Chrysalis as the official charity partner and beneficiary of the past two annual World Poker Tour's Celebrity Invitationals

Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment.
