Emeril Lagasse is an internationally-known celebrity chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author, with notable TV shows Emeril Live and Essence of Emeril on the Food Network.  He grew up as a boy making bread and pastries at a Portuguese bakery in his Massachusetts neighborhood, and eventually made his way to the Big Easy's culinary community.  A Whispered Wish was lucky enough to taste the deliciousness of two of his New Orleans restaurants during the National Conference on Volunteering and Service last week -- Emeril's New Orleans and NOLA -- and both were outstanding.  Bam!

The Emeril Lagasse Foundation was established in 2002 to support non-profit organizations in Emeril's communities.  They support programs that focus on education, culinary arts, nutrition, and life skills, and as of 2010, over $3 million has been given to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.  He also hosts the annual Carnivale de Vin, a premier wine action and gala in New Orleans which has raised over $12 million for children's charities since 2005.  A community of food, wine, and non-profit supporters gather each year for a grand party in the Big Easy, filled with music, dancing, and unique culinary pairings.

Emeril Lagasse Foundation supports non-profit organizations that provide educational programs, life skills development, culinary training and cultural enrichment, creating opportunities in the communities where Emeril's restaurants operate.
