Let's Move!

First Lady Michelle Obama launched Let's Move! to encourage families to eat healthier and get active.  She states: "The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake."  That sounds like a big challenge, but we can all benefit by the simple motto: eat less, move more.

Crazy diets and weight loss treatments rarely become a way of life.  They are fads, like Beanie Babies or McDonald's Happy Meal toys, that sound great at first but rarely become something valuable.  First Lady Obama is giving us an easy message: teach our children the value of health and activity.  These tiny active kids will grow up to be tomorrow's leaders, but only with the help of parents, schools, and community leaders.

Out of Let's Move!, First Lady Obama launched an Apps for Healthy Kids competition for our fellow nerds to design a game to encourage kids and tweens to eat better and be more physically active.  Our favorite game (and the one that likely won the popular vote at the close of voting!) is Food Buster.  Don't be fooled: these games and messages are not just for kids.  No matter your age, it is important to lead a healthy lifestyle.
